Wyndham Championship HP 2023

HP πŸ‘ for The Wyndham Championship

If golf research were sexual...you'd be rounding 2nd base after this.

Here are a few key things to know that may not have been covered on the podcast enough. Keep these in mind when narrowing down your bets and/or player pool.In my mind I'm gone to Carolina! Sedgefield Country Club is one again set to host the familiar Wyndham Championship this week as many big names look to make the final push for the Top 70 and entry into next weeks FedEx Cup Playoff Series. We have an extensive track record at this course and things we know typically lead to success around this course over the years. For a complete and comprehensive course and preview for the Wyndham, Nate has you covered and you can check it out here. Here are some additional cliffnotes and things to keep in mind about the course:

  • Playing from the fairways in an absolute must. Nearly 80% of shots coming from the fairway hit the green in regulation while around 50% of GIR are hit from the rough.

  • Both Par 5s are reachable for nearly the entire field and birdie is the norm.

  • Sedgefield Country Club is ranked 4th easiest in Par 3 scoring since 2015.

  • Sedgefield is in the top 10 fairway hit % at 70.4% on the PGA TOUR since 2015 & ranks in the bottom half on tour in average driving distance. It’s also in the top half in terms of difficulty when missing the fairways.

  • Last year nearly 2/3 of all approach shots came from inside of 175 yards.

  • Outside of major championship venues, Sedgefield is in the top 10 narrowest fairways on the PGA TOUR since 2015 at 29 yards.

  • 13 easiest course on tour for scoring and playing at only 7,100 yards, total distance is not going to inhibit any shorter players OTT here.

  • 17th smallest greens on tour averaging 6000 sq ft and playing as traditional Bermuda putting surfaces which in the summer can be very grain dependent.

  • Rough length is not a problem but the unpredictable nature of Bermuda rough with spin combined with the improper angles it presents are what makes driving accuracy enhanced this week.
