WWT HP 2023

HP 🍑 for The WWT Championship

If golf research were sexual...you'd be rounding 2nd base after this.

Here are a few key things to know that may not have been covered on the podcast enough. Keep these in mind when narrowing down your bets and/or player pool.NEW COURSE ALERT!!! El Cardonal at Diamante plays host this week as the PGA Tour has shifted away from the tight, narrow Mayakoba to possibly the starkest contrast in golf course (and course designer) that it could possible find! The fairways are massive, averaging 60 yards in width to go along with the gigantic 8300 avg. sq ft green complexes. The course has been shut down since early summer in preparation for this event and with little wind projected in the early forecast, we fully expect a birdie-fest!Here is your link to The Rundown with a comprehensive course preview this week.In the meantime, here are my cliffnotes and things to keep in mind:

  • We expect a healthy majority of approach shots to come from the 150-200 yard range, upwards of 50% which is well above tour average.

  • The par 5s are all on the short side and totally reachable assuming you aren't headed directly into a headwind.

  • The par 4's are made up 2 potentially drivable holes, and 6 par 4's within the 462-489 yard range.

  • Rough....there is none. If you miss these massive fairways, you are going to end up in gnarly unkept native areas that will be tough to escape.

  • Coastal Paspalum grass throughout the course.

  • This is the first course that was completed by the TGR design group back in 2014.

  • The best comp courses are Vidanta Vallarta and Kapalua in terms of grass and architectural links.

  • Keep a close eye on wind throughout the week to see if anything changes. It does not look significant at the moment, but can pick up in the afternoon. Something to note if you are playing FRLs.

  • 3 decent length par 3's in play but the course also features a short 150 yard par 3 as the 16th holes where players will look to attack the pin on their way back to the clubhouse before a closing, easy par 5. Expect scoring late in rounds.

  • DataGolf Optimal DK Lineup:Young, Spaun, Riley, Tarren, Kim, Daffue

No radar plot this week as we have a new course.
