Wells Fargo Chalk 💣 2022

It looks like we could have some weather issues this week people! As of Wednesday afternoon it appears the PM/AM wave would have slight advantage in the afternoon on Thursday and even slightly on Friday morning in terms of wind. However, the rain on Friday could throw things for a loop depending on when it shows up and is lightening in the area to possibly stop play.If the rain held off long enough Friday to allow the PM/AM guys to complete their round, then that wave could have an even better advantage as Saturday and Sunday look to be even windier in terms of gusts. Even if it just rains, but not enough to stop play, the Friday PM guys I'm sure would rather not deal with that.As we saw with The Players Championship, sometimes these things can get flipped on their head, weather can change, it can become a non factor, the wave advantage could flip, etc. So be smart with your player pool. Even when there's a clear advantage, it's usually prudent to have some exposure to the other side.

This line opened with Dahmen a -125 favorite over Ghim at -108, but the Ghim side has clearly been hammered and thus the line switched. In DFS, Dahmen is projected at nearly double the ownership of Dougy boy. Sometimes I think guys like Dahmen get more love in the DFS streets because he's such a well liked player. And Doug just seems like a vanilla kind of guy, but whatever.

Both players are solid iron players and good total drivers. Doug edges Joel considerably around the green, long term putting and bogey avoidance. I also found it interesting how many other lines the books & H2H bettors fancied Doug over his competition. He's a favorite over Rai and Nesmith, as well as a slight underdog to Cam Young. Ghim may be worth the click in GPPs.

Garcia -139 vs. Young +115

This line really surprised me. In our Twitter DFS/Golf Betting circle jerk of a world, Cam Young is the hottest thing since Mito came out. But one of our more trusted H2H books HATES Cam Young this week. I was shocked to see his matchup lines. Sure, he's a rookie. But, he's had some podium finishes, and he's just shined from a ball striking standpoint. His last finish was a T3 at RBC where accuracy off the tee was a premium. He's a long hitter that will likely club down off the tee on a few holes, but his irons have been tremendous as well.

Sergio hasn't sucked by any means. He's still hitting it great off the tee, but his irons, scrambling and putting have been not bueno. Young is projected around 22% in DFS to Sergio's 13%. I'd pound the Young side of this H2H, but the hate on him in the H2H markets is making me think about the chalky fade for DFS purposes. He's a dog to Homa, and a slight favorite to Webb and Ghim.

Hatton +139 vs. Fitzpatrick -170

Whoa! This is a very lop sided line for a couple of Brits of similar ilk. Fitz opened as a -158 favorite and his side has still been getting pounded! Fitz is also a sizeable favorite over Woodland and Henley. He actually opened as a favorite over Conners, but the line has since flipped and he's a slight dog now. Both players are projected to land in the 12-15% range in DFS, and Fitz is only $100 more expensive on DraftKings.

Hatton's lines on the other hand have been getting pounded against him. He opened as a heavy favorite against Woodland. Now he's a dog. He opened as a slight favorite to Ancer. Now he's a dog. He opened as a big dog to Henley, and he's an even bigger dog now. The only line he's a favorite on is Leishman.

I don't like Hatton at all here. His off the tee game and ball striking has not been solid or consistent. I love Fitz coming off a missed cut at RBC where he was owned 22% and just had a rare horrid week putting. He still gained strokes T2G. In 8 events in 2022, he's got 2 missed cuts with a 14th, 5th, 9th, 10th, and 6th place finish! Whoa! He's going to win on the PGA TOUR some day. At $10K and 13%, I'm willing to pay for the upside and likely very high floor.

*DISCLAIMER: The Chalk Bomb is CHALK for a reason! This is a ballsy call. We're simply giving you 1 player projected to be highly owned that we think could warrant a fade in order to gain leverage in DFS GPP Tournaments. Sack up & fade OR Ignore the play.

The Chalk Bomb has been heating up the last couple of weeks after Abe continued to suck in 2022. This week was really tough. There are only about 6 names that meet the ownership projection requirements as of Wednesday afternoon, and as yet another testament to the DFS Golf landscape, all of them are looking good with not a lot of warts. But in a week where it's tough going, I'm likely going to default to the most expensive guy. Rory is $200 more expensive than Rahm was last week and the field strength last week looks like a Korn Ferry Tour event compared to this week. Although Rory looks to be around half of Rahm's ownership last week, he's still $11.5K on a course he's not familiar with, in a field with some depth. We last saw Rory play a month ago as he back doored like Snoop Dog in a 1990s strip club for the Masters. So, what's he been doing the last month...getting #Perspective and shit...? Maybe. We've certainly seen Rory come out and win after a few weeks off.Rory also finds himself on potentially (as of Wednesday at 230pm) the wrong side of the draw in terms of wind and weather. He's in the AM/PM wave. From a stat perspective, for Rory's standards/price, he's not killing it with his irons by any means. He gains all of his strokes off the tee. Which...he certainly can gain strokes this week off the tee even by clubbing down, but it does neuter him some. At 20% (top 2 highest) projected ownership, Rory Mcllroy, you are the Chalk Bomb!

I have come to recognize that one thing that takes me the longest to cook for my family is bacon. The reason for this is that I keep eating slices of bacon as soon as they are done so it's hard to keep up on the production end. Speaking of breakfast food. Peeling a boiled egg can be one of the most frustrating things ever. It's hit or miss for me. When it's perfect it's quite rewarding. When the shell sticks to the egg it makes me very angry.I have some extremely false advertisement information for you people. "New Car" scent air fresheners at a car wash does not smell at all like a new car. It's funny to me that some of us probably over the age of 35 used to have to move around airports with no wheels on our luggage.Alright, that’s all I got for this week. I hope you enjoy the Wells Fargo Championship at Avenel Farms. Stay well, good luck with your lineups and bets, and may your screens be green! Bome!
