It should be a nice weekend at the beach for the boys down in Cabo this week with clear skies, mild temps and not too much wind to speak of. We are expecting a slightly breezier day on Thursday compared to round two, but anything in the single digits isn’t enough to give these pros any trouble.

For final analysis on weather advantages and tee times, make sure you tune into the Nut Hut live chat starting around 9pm ET for the latest and final thoughts on the weather this week...GET IN THERE

Daniel Berger -117 ($7900) vs. Patrick Rodgers -103 ($8100)

Our matchup this week highlights Daniel Berger who is a -117 favorite over Patrick Rodgers despite a $200 discount on the former in DraftKings DFS.

Of the two, only Rodgers was here last year for the first edition of this event at El Cardonal at Diamante and he finished at a solid T27 — so the experience edge goes to him.

According to our Nut Hut ownership projections available in the Discord, both guys are among some of the more popular plays this week. Berger is coming in at just over 13%-owned while Rodgers is slightly behind at closer to 12%.

Over/Unders for the World Wide Technology Championship

Going back to the two-leggers that have been good to us this fall and keeping it simple with Unders for Daniel Berger and Matt Kuchar in round one.

Kuch finished runner-up here last year with a -25 score for the week. This place is a resort-style birdie fest that should yield some low numbers on Thursday in what should be some pretty mild conditions. Berger has shot 68 or better in seven of his last 12 rounds — each at similarly benign venues — so a 3-under seems doable.

*DISCLAIMER: The Chalk Bomb is CHALK for a reason! This is a ballsy call. We're simply giving you 1 player projected to be highly owned that we think could warrant a fade in order to gain leverage in DFS GPP Tournaments. Sack up & fade OR Ignore the play.

Last week was…. not our best. Shoutout JT for a good week out in Japan — very nearly won the damn thing outright as the Chalk Bomb.

But the TOUR is back in the western hemisphere if not the US of A this week as El Cardonal at Diamante returns for its second act as host of the World Wide Technology Championship.

As a reminder, the Chalk Bomb is limited to players projected at over 15% ownership in DFS according to our proprietary projections available in the Tour Junkies Discord. We would’ve had nine to choose from, but Cam Young’s last-minute WD leaves us with eight.

Looking at the course, we have a limited number of data points to refer to considering this is only the second time this Tiger Woods / Beau Welling design has been featured on the PGA TOUR. Last year’s edition was a grade-A birdie fest, and the resort-style golf course didn’t exactly draw high praise from the pros that week.

Based on last year’s results and an extensive historical data library, our friends at Bet the Number have put together a model this week that keys in on SG: Off the Tee, Birdie or Better %, SG: Putting, and a unique approach accuracy stat: Average Proximity to the Hole. And for the record, each of these stats accounts for every golfer’s last 36 rounds.

Using these data points, we’ve identified a strong Chalk Bomb candidate who hasn’t exactly shined in any of these areas as of late.

Here’s his ranking in the field of 106 this week:

  • SG: OTT — 68th

  • Birdie or Better % — 24th

  • SG: Putting — 60th

  • Prox to Hole — 30th

From a course familiarity standpoint, this guy will have an advantage in that he did come here last year, and he actually left with a decent T23 finish. Perhaps that’s why he’s the second-most expensive player on DraftKings at almost $10k.

But that steep price point along with his roughly 16% ownership has me looking at other options that stack up a bit better statistically.

With that said, Ben Griffin, you are the Chalk Bomb!

Alright folks, that’s all I got this week for the Wide World of Sports Technology Championship. Stay well and good luck with all your lineups and bets. Bome!
