The winds will be blowing down in Bermuda through the first two days of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship — particularly on Friday where gusts could reach speeds upwards of 25 mph. Everyone is going to get blown away in Rd. 2, but there may be a slight advantage to the PM wave on Thursday.

Andrew Novak -139 ($8800) vs. Andrew Putnam +109 ($9000)
We’ve got a battle of the Andrews for this week’s matchup highlight as Novak is a heavy favorite in a head-to-head matchup over Putnam according to the oddsmakers.
This could be informed by an experience edge for Novak who is making his fourth start at Port Royal compared to Putnam playing just his second Bermuda Championship and his first since 2021. In three prior trips, Novak has managed two made cuts including a T17 in 2023 while Putnam’s only finish was a T21.
These two are neck-and-neck in terms of DFS ownership according to our Nut Hut ownership projections available in the Discord. Both Andrews are coming in right around 13%-owned.
*DISCLAIMER: The Chalk Bomb is CHALK for a reason! This is a ballsy call. We're simply giving you 1 player projected to be highly owned that we think could warrant a fade in order to gain leverage in DFS GPP Tournaments. Sack up & fade OR Ignore the play.
Ben Griffin’s poor showing in Mexico got us back on track in the final weeks of the Chalk Bomb as the 2024 golf calendar nears its end.
But before we put up the Christmas decorations and tune out any mentions of LIV and the PGA TOUR for a month, we’ve got two more official events to get through, starting with the Butterfield Bermuda Championship down in the Caribbean.
Put nicely, this isn’t exactly the strongest field of the year, but nevertheless, it’s our job to find a big name to fade (even if “big” is a relative term this week).
As a reminder, the Chalk Bomb is limited to players projected at over 15% ownership in DFS according to our proprietary projections available in the Tour Junkies Discord. This week, that leaves 10 players to choose from, including four players at over 20% ownership.
Port Royal Golf Course has hosted the Bermuda Championship for each of the last five editions of this event, so we have plenty of historical data to comb over to find this week’s Chalk Bomb
Based on previous results and their own industry-leading course scouting, our friends at Bet the Number have put together a model this week that keys in on several important numbers, but we’ll be focusing on SG: Off the Tee, SG: Approach from 120-170 yards, SG: Around the Green on Bermuda grass and Bogey Avoidance. Using these data points, we’ve singled out a Chalk Bomb candidate who’s numbers just don’t add up to his DFS price point and ownership.
Here’s his ranking in the field of 103 this week over the last 36 rounds:
SG: OTT — 86th
SG: APP from 120-170 — 70th
SG: ARG on Bermuda — 15th
Bogey Avoidance — 57th
While the Chalk Bomb should be able to recover nicely from any missed greens as a result of the windy conditions, the rest of these numbers don’t add up to a player worth spending big on in DFS this week. Add in the fact this will be his first-ever start on this course, and you’ve got a good case to fade this guy.
So as the second-most expensive player this week at $10,300 on DraftKings with a chalky ownership percentage of 20%, I’m steering clear of Mackenzie Hughes as this week’s Chalk Bomb!

As a species we are surrounded by fish at all times.
I’ve noticed that when I’m really thirsty I chug water the same way as when I come up for air after almost drowning.
DB said earlier this week, “why does my ankle itch only when I’m on a treadmill?” I think he’s on to something.
Alright folks, that’s all I got this week for the Butterfield Bermuda. Stay well and good luck with all your lineups and bets. Bome!
