Sanderson HP 2023

HP 🍑 for The Sanderson Farms Championship

If golf research were sexual...you'd be rounding 2nd base after this.

Here are a few key things to know that may not have been covered on the podcast enough. Keep these in mind when narrowing down your bets and/or player pool. After an eventful week in Italy, we're headed to Jackson, Mississippi! The Sanderson Farms is on tap in the 2nd event of our Fall Event series on the PGA Tour and we have a course course and setup this week that is very familiar. Historically, this is a spot that will accentuate a players best skill set. For example, when Burns and Mack Hughes won, they putted it amazing. When Champ won here, he crushed it with his Driver. When Sergio won, he was surgical with his irons. You can go on and on but ultimately what you are looking for is a players who's best skill set is currently firing on all cylinders. For a complete, deep dive into the Country Club of Jackson, check out The Rundown here. Here are some cliffnotes and things to keep in mind about the course this week:

  • Shortish 7,460 yard par 72 that has 30 yard wide fairways at the 300 yard mark and little rough of major concern, can entice players to swing away with Driver often.

  • 6200 sq ft greens that we're recently made smaller with enhanced runoffs around them. Bermuda grass all the way!

  • You want to hone in on scorers! Guys who often post rounds where they gain 3+ strokes on the field. Looks at the list of recent winners. You have Burns, Sergio, Hughes, Munoz. These are guys that make a ton of birdies when they are dialed in.

  • With little tournament reps and data over the last month, would advise widening the scope in terms of form and looking more long term this week.

  • Seven of the top 10 players in SG: APP finished T10 or better last year.

  • The course diminishes the ability to consistently hit fairways in comparison to the average PGA Tour stop. The last two winners really sprayed it around the yard and still were fine.

  • Data Golf has Corales and Torrey Pines as comp courses to CC of Jackson & puts a low value on Course History here in terms of predictive value.

  • Best trophy in golf, a truly magnificent cock.
