"DB's Big Balls Betting Card"

I bet on golf for fun. You should too. Therefore, I don't get the betting erection I crave betting guys at 18/1 or 9/1. I realize that may be the sharper way to do things, but F that. I've felt the rush of have a big triple digit winning golf bet hit...and Daddy likes! Throughout the season, I'm going to show you my pre tournament bets, including what I'm risking, odds, and some brief logic behind the pick. I'm actually betting these guys. I'm taking $50 a week at $10 per unit to show you how I allot my dollars. Follow along, bet with me if you like, or completely fade everyone on this betting card. Up to you. However...I will say...I hit 5 bets in 2019 at 100/1 or longer.HUGE start to season with hitting the Robby Shelton First Round Leader bet at 150/1 from last week's email. I've seen a handful of DM's and tweets where a few of you trailed it. Hey...good job us! Screw you guys that faded us! We're now up 75 units after WEEK 1...BOME!

Through 1 Week: Spent $50 / Won $750 / Up 75 units

First Round LeaderSvensson (125/1)_$7, Power (125/1)_$5, Harrington (100/1)_$5

I especially like betting the triple digit FRL guys since you end up chopping the winnings with ties. You'll notice Svensson and Power show up in both categories of the betting card. Svensson Monday qualified in this week with 8 birdies on the card. The kid can go stupid low when he's hot. Bermuda is his best putting surface, and his ball striking was heavenly towards the end of the season as he finished 31st, 18th, and 15th in his last 3 tour events of the season. In those 3 events...he gained over 25 strokes tee to green! Power is a very similar player. Runs real hot when he's on. Bombs it and takes advantage of the par 5's. He's played here the last 3 years and gained over 16 strokes total on the field. Harrington is a journeyman from the Korn Ferry tour that hits the ball twice as long as Pat off the tee (literally twice as far). He has no weakness in the game. He finished 24th last week and opened with a -6 on Thursday. I like the morning guys this week as the wind will be a little less of a factor, and the greens will be a little softer and receptive.

Outright WinnerClark (50/1)_$10, English (66/1)_$5, Straka (100/1)_$5, Jones (100/1)_$5,Svensson (175/1)_$5, Power (250/1)_$3

You heard me mention Clark on the Pod. Love the upside and pedigree with Wyndham. It's not IF he'll win, it's when. Also...his dating life on Instagram stories will make you hate yourself. Love that English is playing well and playing hungry as he doesn't have full status this season. Finished 3rd last week and has experience here in Jackson. Straka is similar to Wyndham to me (minus the Instagram thing) in that he's a flusher off the tee, aggressive, scores on par 5's and his pedigree is tremendous coming out of THE University of Georgia. He missed the cut last week near the number, but this course sets up better for his bomb and gouge game. Jones sucks at this place, but the trending form and ability to score on par 5's is enticing at 100/1. He finished T30 at the Northern Trust and T10 last week while gaining 8.5 strokes tee to green. He sucks at putting...everywhere but on BERMUDA!

"Pop the Cork & Let it Breathe" Didn't like em Monday, but like em now

Russell Henley - $9,100 – Russell was on my initial list of players before the show that caught my eye but just didn’t end up making the cut. He is always solid though and just seems to be overlooked every week that he’s in the field, and will be again as he’s currently projected to be about 6% owned in DraftKings GPP’s. Henley’s most recent trip to Jackson was in 2017 where he finished in the top 15. He’s also checking boxes for me ranking in the top 15 in the field in Ball Striking, 18th in Opportunities Gained, and 2nd in the field in Proximity. The form has been spotty all year, but he does have a 2nd and a top 15 finish in his last 4 starts (all made cuts). It all adds up to what I think is a sneaky low owned GPP play this week ladies and gents.Zach Johnson - $7,700 – Yep. I’m playing ZJ. Because you know? Why the hell not. Look, I know he’s been slightly worse than average all year, but he still makes cuts 70-75% of the time and if I’m getting him less than 5% owned in tournaments (which I will be), I think he’s definitely worth a shot in my tournament lineups. This course has shown that almost any type of player can win here and Zach is a great ball striker, ranked in the top 10 in the field in Strokes Gained Approach and also 13th in Proximity. If he can just get that putter going which has let him down for the most part this year I think we’ll see the old ZJ again this week.Doug Ghim - $6,600 – This is kind of a gut play for me this week but coming off a T31 at the Greenbrier, and an incredible finish at the KF Tour finals to earn his card, I think Ghim fits the profile of the first time winner we’ve seen here the last 5 years. He also did actually play in this event last year making the cut, but didn’t finish well over the weekend. If we look at stats also he is a very good scrambler and 21st in Opportunities Gained so definitely giving himself chances to score and go low like these guys will need to do this week in order to contend. Ghim is also projected less than 5% owned so if you need a super cheap option to fill out your DraftKings tourney lineups I would seriously give our boy DG a look.

"Pontificate with Pat" Random thoughts from Pat

  • In this day and age I can’t for the life of me understand why anyone should be required to wear a suit and tie to work. It’s dumb. That being said my office goes back to suit and tie from summer casual at the end of September. Poor me.

  • Are there people actually out there that can, with 100% truth behind it, answer yes when their dentist asks if they’ve been flossing regularly? Because I don’t believe there are.

  • I’ve always thought that it was just a ridiculous statement to even suggest that the best college football team could beat the worst NFL team on a neutral field. This year Miami Dolphins “professional” football team though are really testing my thoughts on that.

  • Ever since we came up with the Goalby logo, which is a squirrel by the way, the population of squirrels has definitely taken a hit where I live. I mean, I’ve run over one of those suckers more times in the last few years than I have in my entire life since I could legally drive. It’s crazy.

Do your part people. First off...don't be a jackass and NOT fix your pitch marks on the green. Second, when you see a pitch mark -- fix the pitch mark. Thank you.
