Sanderson 21 Heavy Petting

Heavy Petting 🍑Sanderson 2021

If golf research were sexual...you'd be rounding 2nd base after this.

  • Decent length Par 72 with Par 5's you've got to take advantage of

  • Winning scores have been in the -18 to -20 range. This week looks like more of the same given conditions #BirdieFest

  • 5 first time winners in the last 6 years here (Sergio last year as the exception)

  • In the 6 years at CC of Jackson, 3 winners were 125/1 or longer and the other 3 were either 66/1 or 70/1. #LongShotSZN

  • The trend the last few years has shown longer hitters rising to the top of the leaderboard, but it's not a requirement. Shorter hitters w/ strong wedge play and a hot putter can easily compete.

  • Cam Champ said he'd rather be in the rough (or lack thereof) with a shorter club on approach than in the fairway farther back.

  • The greens are pure Champion Bermuda w/ plenty of grain. Players familiar with chipping onto and putting on fast, grainy bermuda will have an advantage.

  • Data Golf has Corales and Torrey Pines as comp courses to CC of Jackson & puts a low value on Course History here in terms of predictive value

  • Top 5 SG: Ball Striking at CC of Jackson (min 10 rounds) - Glover, Burgoon, Stallings, Davis, Conners

  • Bottom 5 SG: Ball Striking at CC of Jackson (min 10 rounds) - Werenski, Kizzire, Putnam, Kraft, Malnati

Taylor Pendrith$7,800 on DK50/1 Outright+220 for Top 20You've likely heard the name of this long hitting Canadian. Pendrith finished 5th in the order of merit last KFT season, and the Ontario based bomber had quite the season despite not having notched a victory. He did have 8 top 10s and 4 runner ups. He's one of the longest hitters on any tour, and while does struggle to hit fairways, he finished 18th in GIR and 9th in scrambling last season. And, believe it or not, he's in the top half of the KFT in putting average. He's also got some prior experience on the PGA TOUR from 2020-2021 where he finished T23 in the US Open, T11 at the Barbasol, T13 at the Barracuda and made 5/6 cuts on the Tour with his only missed cut being the most recent US Open. His game has range as he can tear up a birdie fest, but also thrive on tougher, long tracks like US Open venues.Nick Hardy$6,900 on DK130/1 Outright+500 for Top 20I remember seeing Hardy play the Sony and the Waste Management in 2021 on his way to a T14 and T42 finish and thinking...this kid's got the eyes of a killer. He Monday Q'd into both events, and while he never won on the KFT, he made 34 of 41 cuts with 10 top 10s and 19 top 25s. He grew up in Illinois and was a 2x Big X Champ and 1st Team All American at U of Illinois. He's a guy who's game really lacks nothing. He's not bad in any category. He was top 40 on the KFT in both DD and DA, 4th in GIR, top 50 in Scrambling, and 67th in Putting Average for the season. He's a ball striking kid with very little fear that makes a lot of birdies, and he's got some PGA TOUR experience through his Monday Q success. His 1st professional victory could very well be in the first half of this PGA TOUR season.
