RSM Classic 2022 HP

HP 🍑 RSM Classic 2022

If golf research were sexual...you'd be rounding 2nd base after this.

Here are a few key things to know that may not have been covered on the podcast enough. Keep these in mind when narrowing down your bets and/or player pool.

Seaside will be the sole course for those making the weekend. Everyone plays 1 round at Plantation either Th or Fr

In 2019 and 2020 (post Plantation renovation), Plantation only played a total of about .17 strokes easier than Seaside. Last year both courses played to a -1.3 scoring average for the 1st 2 rounds. Keep that in mind with DFS stacks, ownership leverage, showdown plays, etc.

Scott Brown & Webb Simpson both remarked that Plantation's green surfaces were tougher with more slope and undulation post renovation.

The average green size on Plantation is 1,000 sq ft smaller than Seaside.

10 of the 12 P4's on Seaside measure less than 450 yards. The % of approach shots from 100 to 175 yards is much higher here than avg on the PGA TOUR. Wedges and short irons...

Average fairway width on Seaside is over 40 yards (some of the widest on Tour). However, 10.5% of missed fairways result in a penalty stroke (top 3 most penal on Tour). Kisner & Streb both hit low draws off the tee. They've won 3x with a runner up.

Seaside sees an average of 75% in terms of fairways hit (way above Tour avg). The GIR% rate is over 75% (way above Tour avg). This leads to quite the putting contest. Scrambling doesn't matter in terms of predicting performance at Sea Island.

With wind conditions at 12mph or less, both of these courses are very easy and gettable. Wind & the areas on and around these greens are the only defense.

The cut line recently has averaged around -4 & the median score over 4 rounds in the last few years has been around -8 to -9. Your guys need to be ready to go low.

5 of the last 6 winners were 50/1 or longer. 4 winners since 2012 were 200/1 or longer!

No Sea Island resident has ever won the event, although Kisner was living there temporarily when he won in 2015.

Kisner & Gooch hold the 72 hole tournament record here at -22

Gooch was the 7th first time PGA TOUR winner to get their 1st victory at the RSM in it's 12 year history.

The 18 hole TOURNAMENT record of 60 is held by Tommy Gainey, Munoz, and McCumber. However, Ben Griffin shot a 59 this summer from the tips on Plantation to break his own record of 62. G Sigg has the course record at Seaside with a 58!

Bottom 12 in SG VS Expectation (min 12 rounds) on Seaside: Hadwin, Kang, Stroud, Streelman, Stallings, Malnati, Baddeley, Hubbard, Kokrak, Snedeker, Cink, Knox

DB's LIV GOLF Media Experience & Rumors Heard + Torching Matt Wolff w/ HIs Best Friend, Austin Eckroat + Shart Prevention on the Course

DB & Geoff Fienberg discuss the 1st year of LIV GOLF and define success, plus DB recaps his experience in Miami as media compared to the typical PGA TOUR media experience. DB shares rumors heard about the 2023 LIV GOLF season and more.

The Austin Eckroat interview is a real treat. Austin's opened up and let his hair down a little as he threw some major shade at Matt Wolff and told us about Matt's texts after LIV events. Austin discusses the importance of shart prevention on the course and the courses he's looking to notch his 1st PGA TOUR victory on. Austin's gonna be a force...don't miss this one.

Ben refused to deliver these to me again today so he's been fired. Looking for volunteers for 2023 to help with some content. Godspeed fam!

4 Victories in a row as we doubled up last week and would've 10x'ed had Henley made 1 more birdie on round 1. Oh well...last one of the year...let's go!I'm taking the clear talent in the 3 BoB matchups. It's just not even close on those 3. I'm taking the under on Seamus' GIR's as the average on Seaside has been around 13.5 in recent years, and he's the highest offering on the board. There will be a touch of wind and the cooler temps will lead to less than ideal conditions. Just don't see how he hits 15 GIR's so a push is in play at worst IMO.

Putting Average Rank : 1st

Scrambling Rank : 69th

Birdie or Better % & Rank : 26.35% (4th)

OTHER Pertinent Info : Robby's no rookie on the PGA TOUR as he's had a history since 2016 Monday Q'ing, getting sponsor's invites, and losing his card...getting it back, etc. He's amassed 8 Top 20s on the PGA TOUR since 2016 with maybe his best start to a season yet this fall. He's made 5/6 cuts so far with a T15, T21 & T23. He's a 2x winner on the KFT, and notice that he led the Tour in Putting Average and also 24th in Driving Accuracy (2 key stats for this week at Sea Island). The improved play on the KFT and early indicators so far this season could be attributed to more consistent ball striking. He's a bama boy, so he's likely very comfy putting on grainy bermuda.
