As of now, there appears to be a weather advantage to the AM/PM. On Thursday, wind gusts range from 25-28 mph from 11AM - 7PM. With that said, the AM golfers will still have 14 to 26 mph gusts but their average wind is lower. I don’t believe that there will be a two-day advantage because Friday appears to be about the same throughout the day.As of now, I will not be going ALL in on the AM/PM stack but I will use it at a tie breaker or possibly fade some of the chalkier afternoon golfers. If you’re playing showdown, on Thursday, you will want to target the early golfers.
As always, final weather thoughts will be discussed tonight in the Nut Hut live chat starting around 9pmET and going until...GET IN THERE!
T. Finau -161 vs C. Young +138
Interesting line here where Finau is a pretty heavy favorite again everyone’s man crush this week. Cam Young is trending towards the highest owned golfer on DK this week but is a dog to Will Zalatoris, Patrick Cantlay, and Tony Finau.Yes, you do get a $300 savings from Young to Finau but I don’t see that as enough for the ownership difference. The other deciding factor is Finau tee’s off early in the morning on Thursday where Young will have to deal with the more firm conditions and higher gust of winds.Give me the pivot to Finau here in hopes he can get on a heater similar to Xander and Scottie from earlier in the year.
A. Hadwin -134 vs K. Kisner +115
Funny how DK is from week to week. Last week, everyone loved Hadwin and thought he was such a nice course fit. Now this week, at lower ownership and lower pricing no one wants to play him.Now everyone looks at Kisner’s course history and love for a Donald Ross course and are jumping to play a chalky Kisner at the price tag of $9,100. Give me the lower owned Adam Hadwin all day here and I'll trust Vegas knowing something by making him the heavy favorite in this matchup.
G. Woodland -104 vs S. Theegala - 113
I have this feeling that this is sneaky Gary Woodland week! It seems like a typical tournament where you look back come Sunday and see Woodland at the top of the leaderboard and wonder why I didn’t play him around 5% ownership. He is even money against Theegala and is almost half the ownership. DataGolf actually has Woodland as a slight favorite in this matchup and I love the fact that he has the early tee time. Finally, I think Woodland has Top 5 upside here and is a good pivot against others in his price range like Kirk and Stallings.
*DISCLAIMER: The Chalk Bomb is CHALK for a reason! This is a ballsy call. We're simply giving you 1 player projected to be highly owned that we think could warrant a fade in order to gain leverage in DFS GPP Tournaments. Sack up & fade OR Ignore the play.
Thru the first 20 holes Gotterup was +6 and well on his way to bombing out for us. At that point, he went on to finish with four birdies and an eagle to make the cut. He ended up finishing in 31st place by shooting 69/69 on the weekend. However, he finished 47th in DK points scored at around 16% ownership. I'd say it was a victory, although we took some blows.
Now, onto the Rocket Mortgage where we have a little more interesting field than last week's 3M Open. This weeks chalk bomb is ranked inside the Top 15 in the World Golf Rankings and has finished Top 30 in every major with three of those being Top 10. He wears size 28 pants, looks like Happy Gilmore’s caddie, and has a smoking hott girlfriend! Our chalk bomb is Will Zalatoris!
It is always scary fading an elite player when he is obviously one of the better players in the field. However, he has missed the cut following the first three majors and this is his first tournament back since playing in The Open Championship. When I think of Willy Z, I think of a player who plays well on tough tracks with tougher fields. So far in his career, he has struggled in birdie fest/putting contests which will be the case this week. According to Fantasy National and all of Will's measured shot link rounds, he gains at least a stroke and a half per round on average or difficult scoring courses and only 1 stroke on easy courses. The last top 10 Willy had in easy scoring conditions was The Farmers back at the end of January.
At +17% (top 8 highest) projected ownership, William Patrick Zalatoris, you are the Chalk Bomb!
It really bothers me when people set alarms that wake up everyone besides the people that set the alarm.Adam & Eve were tempted by an apple? And they failed? Imagine if it was a Jalapeno popper. Is fried chicken a sandwich? I mean, technically it is meat between bread.Speaking Rocket Mortgage. When you fart, at some minute level you are a rocket ship. Alright, that’s all I got for this week. I hope you enjoy the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club. Stay well, good luck with your lineups and bets, and may your screens be green! Bome!
