Mexico Open 2022 Heavy Petting

Heavy Petting 🍑 Mexico Open 2022

If golf research were sexual...you'd be rounding 2nd base after this.

Hola Amigos! Bienvenido a la Mexico Open!Esperamos que hayas traído la madera pesada para esta semana.Bombea a los chicos! Here are a few key things to know that may not have been covered on the podcast enough. Keep these in mind when narrowing down your bets and/or player pool.

  • This is shaping up to be one of those high variance events that rewards length and a hot four days with the putter. The fairways are muy wide. The rough is muy short. The greens are muy large.

  • Hit the long ball. Pound these big greens in regulation. Make putts on the slow, flat, paspalum surfaces. That's it. That's the game. The end.

  • We've received a lot already from our Caddie friends on the ground. We're sharing it all in the Nut Hut, but here's a quote about the areas around the greens: "Greens aren't very undulating. Collection areas around the greens are minimal. It's really pretty easy around the greens."

  • Other Tournaments that feature Paspalum grass according to Fantasy National: OHL Mayakoba, Puerto Rico, Corales Puntacana. None of these have shot link data so we don't have a clue who putts well on them.

  • If we look at Strokes Gained Total from only courses with Paspalum and we look at a minimum of 24 rounds played on those courses for sake of sample size, your top players are: CH3, D. Lee, Grillo, Knox, Lahiri, Garnett, Lashley, Baddeley, Woodland, Perez, Poston, Finau, Todd, Schenk, Na

  • They added nearly 300 yards of length and 51 bunkers to this course to make it PGA TOUR worthy. There are a total of 106 bunkers on the course, and water in play on about 5 to 7 holes (setup and wind dependent).

  • 6 of the 9 par 4's can tip out over 450 yards. 4 of the par 4's can tip out between 495 and 520 yards. Hello long iron ball strikers and bombers

  • The 18th is the only gettable par 5 in two for the entire field. Our caddie friends tell us that will be a full send hole for everyone. Expect tons of birdies and eagles there, and be on the lookout if PrizePicks drops one of those O/U 4.5 Par 5 lines. Pound the under on your favorite long hitters.

Since we didn't have PrizePicks lines up on Monday night at the time of recording, I (DB) thought I'd slide this in here on the HP email. This is a Power Play (have to hit all 3 to win for 5x) for me on round 1. The par is 71. The weather looks pretty mild so far and this is looking like a straight up birdie bonanza!
