Jack'd Up in Ohio
DB's Big Balls Betting Card & the 10 Key Stats can be found HERE!
WARNING: This email is NOT being written by our typical author, "Chalk Bomb" Ben Little. Ben had a death in the family and therefore we're bringing in the relievers. DB here...I'll be handling the intro and first few sections. You'll notice it's not as robust as it usually is, and that's because I'm doing so much other shit. All back to normal next week though."Crazy Marcus" Miklovich, long time listener, author of the LPGA TOUR Betting Article, Nut Hut menace, and overall weirdo is authoring and choosing the Chalk Bomb for this week. He won a bet against Ben months ago, and he requested to write the Bomb one week...so...here we are. Hey! It can't be worse than what Ben's been writing! Sorry Ben.If I hear or see one more damn thing about the "Renovations" at Muirfield Village...I'm gonna punch myself in the dick. Let me spare you a lot of reading and time on YouTube...the course is going to play tighter, not as much a bomber's paradise, the new greens will be firm and make for some tough approach shots, and it's a little easier now to get up and down when you miss. There ya go. Why do you need to know that a tee box was resurfaced or a slope off #16 was evened up or a fairway was lowered...? You don't.The weather in Ohio looks interesting to start. The course got it's fair share of rain today on Wednesday and it's expected that the rain will continue for most of the day on Thursday. Now, the course did add new drainage methods and subair in the renovations to help them dry it out quickly, but it will still play soft and a little longer for at least Thursday. We may even see the TOUR put in lift, clean and place (making accuracy all the more important).
Given the chance of rain for the entire day on Thursday, it would not surprise me at all if we see delays or maybe even some players having to finish round 1 on Friday. If this happens, it's going to jack up the waves and makes this week pretty unpredictable. The wind on Thursday and Friday looks fairly evenly split. At this point, if you're playing 50 or more lineups, I guess I'd do a handful of stacks for both waves just in case. But, if you're not playing that many...I would just play the guys you like regardless of weather wave.
MATCHUP 1
Finau -120 vs. Oosthuizen -110
This feels like a classic, play Louie in DFS but bet Finau scenario. Louie's projected to be around 4% lower owned across most ownership projections and you save $700 on DraftKings. Add to that his recent form and knack for playing tough tracks with strong fields quite well (see Major Championship record), and you're looking at a no brainer pivot in DFS, but for $700 LESS!
But despite neither of these guys having won a quality PGA TOUR event...I feel like Tony is more likely to close the door when it comes to betting him outright. He's got the total package for Muirfiled Village. Everyone knows he's got the length, he's got the ball striking, but few give his around the green game enough credit. He's 7th in that category over the last 24 rounds and it's been improving since he came on tour years ago. Like so many players...it all comes down to the putter with Tony. But I believe Tony is tired as hell from just "knocking the door" but not getting the job done. Hell, he's already had 2 runner up finishes in 2021 and it's barely June! His record at Jack's place is far better than Louie's and if you weigh long term form over just very recent form, then Tony should be the clear favorite. I'll go with Tony for the matchup and outright, but pivot to Louie O-face in DFS.

MATCHUP 2
Reed -120 vs. Scheffler -110
Gawd we all know I love playing P. Reed and documented on last week's podcast my lack of "being able to pull the trigger" -ness on Scheffler. While neither are playing their best at the moment, this line surprised me. I wouldn't have thought it'd be as close as it is. For DraftKings, Scheffler is $100 cheaper and projected around 10% lower owned across most sites. However, like I said on that podcast episode...doesn't it feel like the golf world has already crowned Scheffler despite having not won a PGA TOUR event yet? I'm just not sold yet. I'd rather have Reed here for the matchup, avoid both outright, and I guess I could pinch my nose and click Scheffler's name in DFS just due to the ownership leverage.
MATCHUP 3
Smith -114 vs. Hoffman -114
Now this line is juicy to me after I nailed Pat on his #StopAussieHate issues with the likes of Cam. Now, I love me some Charlie Hoffman most weeks (this included), but I'm also kind of a sucker for Cam. I don't what to tell you here really. I just found it interesting that their even money, but Cam's projected to be around 8-10% lower owned. Now, he's $300 more in DFS, but I actually think Hoffman is being under projected at this point and the spread between these 2 in terms of DFS ownership could be 12% or higher when lineups lock. Given Hoffman's incredible very recent form, I think I'd lean Hoffman here in the H2H, but I may just end up playing both in DFS. Hoffman mentioned on SiriusXM this morning that playing the US Open at Torrey (a place he grew up playing) was as big of a dream for him as playing The Masters was. As of now, he's not locked in...he's got to be top 60 in OWGR by the end of the week...he's currently #60...
Man, what on earth was going through the Tour Junkies guys heads allowing this to happen. Resident LPGA tout and noted “Crazy” person Marcus here. So if you’re not in the Nut Hut (I don't know what you are doing if not, I guarantee you there's a link to sign up somewhere in this email. The best $10 a month you’ll ever spend) you’re probably wondering “where’s Chalk Bomb Ben?” Don’t worry he wasn’t fired for trying to fade Abe Ancer on a Pete Dye track.
Months back around the Farmers we had a bet come up in the weekly Nut Hut Wednesday nite chat, that If Spieth found his way back to the winner’s circle this year, I’d get full control of the Chalk Bomb for a week and well now Ben gets the week off and I’m on double duty, maybe he won this bet after all. So if you’ve never read one of my articles, buckle up, grab a loved one because this is going to be a very bumpy and dangerous ride. Honestly wouldn’t blame you if you scrolled right to Pontificate with Pat. It’s what I do.
*Remember that we've made a rule for the bomb that they have to be in the top 10 projected owned on Fantasy National.
^Ben usually follows the rules he’s put forward but YOLO not me I’m bending the slightly^
Stats about our boy this week:
He hasn't been able to keep his driver on this planet.
Over the last three months in the proximity of 150-175yrds and 175-200yrds, where 45% of shots are coming from this. He ranks 23rd and 71st respectively in this field
Putting on fast/lightning greens the last 50 rounds he is 100th in this field.
He’s lost 5+ strokes on the greens two times in his last seven events.
During the last 24 rounds if you run a rolling report on Strokes Gained: Around the Green he has progressively gotten worse in each time frame.
“To be honest, the state of my game is not great”
This is supposed to be a bold fade right?
Speaking of bold consider donating to 28Bold
Also guest Chalk Bomb writers are 1 for 1 on picking the winner... so…
At 16% calculated ownership on Fantasy National, Justin Thomas, you're the Chalk Bomb!

You know what I can’t stand? Those damn tags that dry-cleaning companies clamp on to your pants or shirts. They are annoying as hell. I’m a ripper also and not a cutter. So the tags just piss me off even more because they are so hard to rip off. That said. I have discovered a local dry cleaner that uses these special tiny stickers with barcodes instead of the stupid tags. It’s amazing. Total gamechanger in the dry-cleaning world.
So baseball season just ended for my son’s little league team that I helped coach. All season long I would sometimes show up to games with a bottle of water filled with some lemon lime flavoring in it (not a fan of plain water sometimes ok people). Anyway, one of the kids comes up to me at the last game and asked me if I was drinking pee. I have a lot of questions here, but one is certainly what sort of mental head games this kid was dealing with the entire season wondering if Coach Pat is, in fact, drinking pee.
Speaking of the topic of pee. I often wonder if urinals were invented by some drunk dude that couldn’t wait on a stall so he just peed in the sink.
I was looking at my phone apps recently and noticed I have no less than 10 apps that I have zero clue what their function is. I still didn’t want to delete them though. I may need them at some point.
Alright, that’s all I got for this week. I hope you enjoy the Memorial at pristine Muirfield Village Golf Club. Stay well, good luck with your lineups and bets, and may your screens be green! Bome!
