HP 🍑 for the 2024 3M Open

Early week research for betting the 2024 3M Open on the PGA TOUR

If golf research were sexual…you’d be rounding 2nd base after this.

First Look: TPC Twin Cities @ Blaine, Minnesota

Scottie who? From no majors to one of the favorites for the career grand slam, it’s been a helluva summer for Xander Schauffele. The X man closed out the Open with a historic final-round 65 on Sunday to forever put to rest any notion that he’s not built to win the big tournaments. Speaking of big tournaments — this week ain’t one, but we’re running out of chances to bet on pro golf in 2024 so let’s take advantage while we can, shall we?

Let’s get into it!

Over/Unders for the 3M Open

Don’t have a ton of options on the Underdog board this week for a post-major snoozer, but the money still pays all the same. That said, we’re keeping it simple this week with a straight-up two-legger as that seemed to work well last week at Troon. The wind/weather should lay down on Thursday inviting some lower scores, so here’s what I like this week:

  • Grillo needs one last tune-up before the Olympics in Paris, and what better place to do it than the Twin Cities where he’s finished in the top 10 in three of the last four years. It has not been a good summer for the Argentine, but we only need three under in getable conditions to cash this ticket — so I’ll take my chances.

  • Keith Mitchell is having an underwhelming season, but you wouldn’t know it from his advanced analytics. He continues to be an absolute strokes-gained monster, and on a course he loves (back-to-back top 5 finishes) and one where bogeys/round are well below the TOUR average, I’m backing Cashmere Keith to keep it under 2 squares on the card in round one.
