Fortinet 2022 Heavy Petting

Heavy Petting 🍑 Fortinet 2022

If golf research were sexual...you'd be rounding 2nd base after this.

Here are a few key things to know that may not have been covered on the podcast enough. Keep these in mind when narrowing down your bets and/or player pool.

  • Short Par 72 where any player type can win. Length is always a weapon, but not required here. Plus, the course is likely to play firm and fast with ZERO rain all week. The fairways will run.

  • These greens have a lot of undulation and slope. Not just hitting the GIR, but hitting it to the proper tier will lead to the most scoring opportunities.

  • Korn Ferry Tour graduates (now PGA TOUR rookies) have a history of competing here. There will be rookies that finish top 10 or 20 and some with winning upside.

  • Terrible putters have solid records and even wins here. Steele as a 2x winner has been a historically awful putter. Grillo won here. Reavie & Ryan Moore have great records here as historically bad putters.

  • The rough off the fairways isn't all that penal. Cameron Champ is on record saying as long as he misses the fairway on the proper side, he doesn't care if he's in the rough. He ripped driver everywhere the year he won.

  • Justin Rose is on record saying all the par 5's are gettable by the field and most of the par 4's will have wedges in for the field.

  • SG: Around the Green shouldn't be a part of your model. If they're missing greens here, they're already behind. It's all about a high GIR % this week.

  • Silverado plays in the bottom third easiest courses on the PGA TOUR since 2015

  • Silverado ranks in the middle in terms of average Driving Distance at 286 yards on the PGA TOUR since 2015. But, Silverado is in the top 5 lowest in Fairways Hit at 59.5%. Only East Lake and Torrey Pines South have narrower fairways as Silverado fairways average 27 yards. The missed fairway penalty is among the bottom third lowest on TOUR.

  • Silverado sees an average of 71.3% in GIR % and ranks in the top 15 easiest on the PGA TOUR since 2015.

  • Wedge shots between 75-125 yards are nearly double the PGA TOUR avg here over the last 5 years

  • Cink has the 72 hole course record / Hadley 18 hole record

  • We’ve had an AM wave FRL 7 of the last 8 years. Keep that in mind for showdown slates as well.

  • Per DataGolf, the optimal lineup consists of: C. Conners ($10,300), B. Steele ($8,900), T. Montgomery ($8,500), W. Clark ($8,000), P. Rodgers ($7,300), and L. List ($7,000).

  • Taylor Montgomery is the 15th priced golfer on DraftKings this week. DataGolf has Montgomery as the 8th ranked golfer in this field in terms of odds.

LIV Golf + Behind The Scenes as a Rookie + Caddie Controversy + Fist Fights + Cobras & MORE! The interviews with Sigg & EVR were fantastic. Both guys were extremely candid, funny and interesting. Even if you're strictly the DFS/Betting data nerd, you'll enjoy our conversations about statistics and how these guys find form week to week.

PODCAST INTEL: Loves tougher tracks that put a premium on ball striking. Feels like his KFT scrambling stats are skewed considering how many GIR’s he hits. Thinks he’s a better chipper and putter than the stats would say. Prefers to hit a draw. Loves Quail Hollow. Loves bermuda greens, somewhat comfy on bent, but pretty shaky on POA.
