CJ Cup

Another Asian event that starts at 6:30 pm TODAY so lets jump right into the juicy stuff! A couple quick notes, it's going to be pretay pretay pretay windy. Because this is a small field no cut even, we only have a 2 hour difference from the first to last tee time both days, BUT if your looking for a tie breaker the guys with the later PM times today look to have the worst of the draw. Very tough course, bentgrass greens, lots of slope, good short games have the highest advantage. Leh Go!

Head to Head Matchups & Information

This is something I've been incorporating more & more into my weekly analysis, & is absolutely critical when trying to value one guy against another. Essentially we look at the head to head matchups posted on mybookie to see where the books disagree with the DFS world and where we can find value. Some weeks the DFS world & the books are in almost complete agreement, but most of the time there are clear differences of opinion that we can take advantage of. It almost always ends up being a great clue as to where the sharp money is & what the books were expecting, so lets dig in! (FYI, mainly just focusing on 'values' this week....I shouldn't need to highlight that JT is favored over everyone and Brooks is favored over everyone expect JT)

So this matchup jumps off the page because A. Oosty is $1100 cheaper this week than Billy, & B. Oosty is the -130 fav. I would guess that books see Louis as the better wind player, plays tough courses better, and is also in the first group off today so a slightly better draw. This just seems like a 'Tyrrell Hatton course' doesn't it? Don't need monster length, tough, requires good short game, windy....but you could also say the same about Cam. Hatton gets the edge because he generally gains a full stroke off the tee per event while Cam generally loses one. Another nice value here as Noren is $300 cheaper but the head to head fav. I actually like Noren quit a bit this week as he plays well on difficult courses plus he has really good splits on bentgrass. Any event that requires a good short game and good putting makes AS an auto fade for me. Yes, Cink is $200 more expensive, but he's going to carry a fraction of the ownership that Lovemark does, AND he's the -140 head to head favorite. Really clear value here as RCB is $600 cheaper AND has implied odds to beat Snedeker head to head about 60% of the time. Both have very good bentgrass splits and RCB played well here last year finishing T-11.The battle of the South Korean's! The battle of the 'World Class Players!' Pat was very bold in his proclamation that Sung-jae Im is officially a world class player on the pod this week, unfortunately for him he's matched up against an actual world class player in Benny An who is amazingly projected to be lower owned than Im.

THE Chalk Bomb

Good week last week as neither chalk bomb player was remotely close to helping anyone win a GPP. It was a surprisingly easy decision to make this week as well. Facts about our guy this week:

-While he's slightly cheaper than last week, this would only be the third time in the last 6 months that he's been priced above $9k

-He played here last year, hit 70.8% of his greens in reg, and proceeded to shoot 5 over and finish 40th.

-He was below field average in every metric that we have access to from last year's event (no strokes gained data since it's in Asia)

-Out of a field of 74 players, he currently ranks 62nd in strokes gained around the green

-Out of a field of 74 players, he currently ranks 57th in strokes gained putting (these are the two most important aspects this week)

-He has negative splits on difficult courses

-He has negative splits on windy courses

-He's played in 5 straight limited field events, and in 3 of them, he's gained 3.8 strokes or less tee to green which is supposed to be his strength

Our friends over at

have this guy projected at 19.3%, fifth highest in the field:

Gary Woodland, your the chalk bomb! (He's thanking God that he's the chalk bomb)
