While we saw a near 2 shot wave advantage last week at the PGA, it doesn't appear it will be that drastic this week, but the very early TH AM guys could see a slight advantage as the wind doesn't really get kicking on Thursday until around 11am. The first groups off go around 7am, so they could see the wind pick up on their last few holes, but anyone going off after probably 9am will contend with gusts in the 20s throughout most of their round. Friday looks to be the easiest day of the week with perfect conditions. But, Saturday and Sunday look to be very very windy with high sustained winds and gusts getting to the 30s. In the Texas wind, the ball strikers prevail for the most part, but having some touch around the green will come in handy as your inevitable to miss these small greens. This could be a week for the grinders as the winning score looks to be around 10 to 12 under at Colonial.
Believe it or not, Spieth actually opened as an even bigger dog (+123) to JT on this line despite Spieth's incredible record here. Obviously, these best friends are playing very well at the moment, but both have a major question that needs answering...JT's is, "Are you really in IT this week after the whirlwind PGA Champ?" And Spieth's is, "What the F bomb is wrong with your putter, Golden Boy!?"
Both men answered these questions in the media center this week. JT's was what you would think...it's a new week...I love this place...blah blah blah.
Jordan's wasn't what I expected though. He basically said he stroked it better last week than he has in a long time, but he just misread a bunch of putts.
Jordan at + money on Colonial is the play for me with this matchup, but at near double the ownership projected in DFS...JT may be the play there.
Na -102 vs. Harman -119
This one surprised me a bit. This line has completely flipped since it opened with Na the -120 favorite. The H2H bettors have pounded the Harman side of all of his H2H's just about. Both men are projected to come in around 17-20% in DFS, but Na will cost you $300 more in salary.
The more I look at Harman, the more he feels like chalk worth eating. Outside of Na having a win here, Harman's record at Colonial is equally as good. He comes in with more recent form than Na and it's better form at that. Hell, Harman just gained 5 strokes with his irons at the PGA while losing 2 off the tee. That's tough to do in a major. I'd likely avoid betting this matchup, but I'm liking Harman more and more in DFS and in the outright and top 20 markets.
Ancer +106 vs. Berger -129
You know how you know DB is writing the Chalk Bomb...? When there's a paragraph defecating on Abe Ancer! Ancer's H2H opponents are catching all the steam this week despite Abe's good week at the PGA and his fit for a place like Colonial. I was shocked to see Berger such a favorite given his unknown with the wrist and his MC hammer last week. But here we are...
Ancer's also now a dog to Webb Simpson despite opening as a favorite. He's only a favorite against poor Mito and...well...just poor Mito.
The thing is...is that Abe's projected DFS ownership is around 17%, while Berger is around 13% and Webb is around 10%. Oh and they're both cheaper than Abe! HA! Play Abe at your own risk folks. He's still just not that good despite a solid PGA Championship.
*DISCLAIMER: The Chalk Bomb is CHALK for a reason! This is a ballsy call. We're simply giving you 1 player projected to be highly owned that we think could warrant a fade in order to gain leverage in DFS GPP Tournaments. Sack up & fade OR Ignore the play.
Stop me if you've read this before...Abe Ancer is the mother f'ing Chalk Bomb! And hey...my Abe-dar (that's terrible) has been pretty spot on this year. He did have a good week at the PGA as he spiked with his irons gaining over 4 shots. It's been almost a year since he last gained 4 shots with his irons, and he won that event. However, this year has not been the same for Abe as his irons have fallen off to combine with his dreadful play around the greens. He's always been bad around the greens.I think the around the green play could kill his upside this week as well given the winning score is projected around -11. The wind is kicking up for the weekend, and these greens are small to begin with. They aren't super difficult to chip into, but it's not ideal for the 9th highest priced player on DraftKings at $9.3K.As has been my concern with Abe all year, it all comes down to his upside. He's too expensive given his limited payoff's over the last 12 months. Plus, people love him and play him too much.Consider this:Abe is the 9th highest priced player on DraftKings, but the 15th shortest outright odds on DK at 40/1, and there are 14 others shorter than him to finish Top 20 on DK.Abe's likely to make the cut at Colonial. Hell, he should. However, I still have reservation about his ability to finish inside the top 10. At +17% (top 8 highest) projected ownership, Abraham Ancer, you are the Chalk Bomb!
I can't stand this mainstream work thought that we need to give calendar access to others. It's BS. It's especially BS when a co worker puts an "important" meeting on your damn calendar when you're supposed to be playing golf that day.Why do we still need stickers on fruits and vegetables at the grocery store? What was the point of learning how to play the Recorder in school? Couldn't we have learned something more impressive like the Harmonica? Nothing sucks more than the moment during an argument when you realize you are wrong. I don't know how, when, or if it will ever happen but if someone develops sarcasm font they will be a legend forever. I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.Alright, that’s all I got for this week. I hope you enjoy the Charles Schwab Invitational at Colonial. Stay well, good luck with your lineups and bets, and may your screens be green! Bome!
